1. Dogs have an incredible sense of smell. It is estimated that a dog's sense of smell is between 10,000 to 100,000 times more acute than humans. Some breeds, like bloodhounds, have particularly exceptional olfactory abilities and are often used in tracking and search and rescue operations.
2. The world's oldest known breed of domesticated dog is the Saluki, which is an elegant and swift sighthound. This breed has been traced back to ancient Egypt, with depictions of similar-looking dogs dating back over 4,000 years. Salukis were highly regarded and were often mummified alongside their owners in ancient Egyptian culture.
3. The Basenji is a unique dog breed that does not bark in the typical manner. Referred to as the "barkless dog," the Basenji instead produces sounds described as yodels, howls, or chortles. This unique trait makes the Basenji an interesting and vocal breed that expresses itself in distinctive ways compared to most other dog.
